Description
Beautiful, extra-large California Claro walnut slab, locally salvaged from a tree in Los Olivos, CA. Approximately 9 feet long, 2¼"+ thick, and 30–40"+ wide through much of the slab, with a very unusual natural shape and large crotch/branch sections. This is a one-of-a-kind piece with a lot of character and potentially incredible figure beneath the rough-sawn surface. A chain had actually grown into the tree at the crotch and had to be carefully cut and removed during milling, adding to the unusual history and character of this slab. I’ve also included a photo of another piece milled from the same tree so you can see the beautiful color and grain that this Claro walnut reveals once surfaced. The slab is currently rough and will need flattening/finishing. It has natural cracks, checks, voids, bark inclusions, and irregular edges as shown in the photos.
